Lakewood Outdoor Education Center

We spent yesterday afternoon out on the trails of Lakewood enjoying the sun and fresh air. Lakewood is an outdoor education center on Bainbridge Island and yesterday they were having an open house. We visited tree houses, ponds, marshes, bird watching areas, a giant suspension bridge, and a forest canopy tower.
Lucas admiring the view - or contemplating tossing a stick overboard.

Frances admiring the view - or contemplating what she can grab and put in her mouth.

A crossroads, with a cool little seat.

One of the tree houses

The suspension bridge over a ravine with a creek way down below.

The canopy tower - 10 stories high - 200 stairs

Yes, we made it to the top

It was pretty amazing to feel like you were climbing to the top of a tree

The view from the top

It was bright up there!

The other side of the bridge

Back at the crossroads
Running over the bridge one more time.

Lucas is contemplating the meaning of life in the first pic. And in the suspended bridge pic, YOU are Kevin Bacon's character in White Water Summer during the scene when he makes the kids cross the scary bridge.
