Easter Week 2012

My parents came to visit for Easter week. It was a jam packed week full of family time, sleeping, and eating. It was great.
Grandma Rose gave Frances a pink glow Seahorse to match Lucas'. Boy, was he excited.

It was a great Easter week. Wonderful as always to have my family here - to just hang out and visit. Mom made us lots of comforting food, like fried chicken, tacos, king crab, ham, plus all the fixins'. We sure enjoy our meals! Thanks for everything Mom and Dad - we love you!

Frances Lynn Kailani

She came as a surprise. Not due for another 24 days, little Frances decided March 3, 2012 would be her birthday...Friday March 2, we went to the hospital to do all appropriate paperwork and register, then we had a 3 o'clock doctors appointment. At my appointment, my doctor checked me - because I wasn't feeling so hot - and told me I was 1.5 cm dilated, fully effaced, and that my bag of water was bulging. Then she informed me it could be any time! What? I'm supposed to have 3 more weeks to get ready! We spent the drive home making calls letting people know the news. We arrived home, had dinner, Randy went to a T-ball meeting, I went into labor. So much for having the weekend to at least get things done.

Randy got home around 8:30 and I told him I'd been having contractions since about 7pm. At 9:30pm, I texted Jana, who promptly jumped in her car and drove up - arriving at our house around 11:30pm - by midnight we were at the hospital. Wow, things were happening quick!

Once at the hospital, I quickly realized I didn't want to be there. I know I had jumped the gun getting there, but I was nervous, Lucas came very quickly and being Group B Strep positive again, I wanted to make sure I got the antibiotics this time (didn't with Lucas). And this labor was so different than Lucas, I couldn't really figure out where I was.

I was uncomfortable, didn't like all the monitors, or the nurse acting like I really wasn't in labor. After a check - no change from the afternoon - I quickly said, get me home! So, home by 2am. Short hour and a half sleep. 4 am rolls around, I'm up, and in active labor. By 6:30, Randy was up, Lucas and Jana followed shortly thereafter - I don't really know, I was in Labor Land - In the tub by 8am. Sat in there for about 2 hours - (I really want a bigger tub). Got out around 10, headed to the hospital. Everything changed in the car. It was a good thing we left when we did.

Got to the hospital at around 10:30am - in the room as quickly as possible - Everyone could hear me coming. Nurses told Randy he better stay - the security guard would park our car. It was going to be quick. But we left everything in it! The camera! I wanted pictures this time - none with Lucas - again he came very fast. I was checked, 7+ cm and moving fast. Around 11:30am my doctor broke my bag of water - and at 11:52 am our little miracle was delivered, caught by Daddy, it was perfect. But, I didn't get the antibiotics - plus, being so early - we had to stay 2 days. But, all was well, Frances is perfect. 6 lbs. 15 oz. 18 inches long - the following Tuesday, March 6, she was 6 lbs 10 oz 19.5 inches! She is doing great. Lost her little umbilical cord yesterday. So much is happening so fast! So, here are her first pictures...

On Friday Susan, Scott and Sammi came to visit - And bring food!
This post is dedicated to my wonderful sister. She watched Lucas, took him to school, read him books, brushed his teeth, helped out around the house, did laundry, cooked - everything. You made the hospital stay and first week very easy and worry free. Thank you Aunt Jana, we love you lots :)

It has been a very quick week. I'm feeling good and getting back into the swing of things. Its really weird, we now have 2 kids! How did that happen?!? Its going to take some time figuring things out again and even more when Randy goes back to work. But, I'm sure we'll get it together and it'll all be good. Happy birthday Frances!! and welcome to the family.
